Mohair must-have

I’m back with another camel-coloured mohair-must-have winter coat and perhaps unsurprisingly, its another ZARA number. I would apologies but by now you have probably realised that the majority of my favourite jackets and coats are all from trusty ZARA! They really do make some of the best one-off pieces, particularly for winter! This time it’s this gorgeous camel/beige number, possibly the coat of my dreams…

Now that winter is well and truly under way in London, I can’t think of a better coat to wrap up warm in, and warm it is indeed. Mohair is made from the hair of the Angora goat and is consequently durable, resilient, soft to the touch and naturally insulating. A coat this is smooth, light AND makes you feel like you’re walking around in a thick layer of thermal underwear…. this is what dreams are made of.

The only downside to ZARA’s key pieces or must-have items is that they a) tend to sell out extremely quickly and b) are not re-produced after the initial season. Which means that this bad boy has already sold out. Luckily for you I’ve decided (or more, my partner has decided) that my camel coat collection is slowly becoming an unreasonable obsession (apparently) and so, I’m currently (albeit with much resistance) selling the coat of my dreams on good old EBAY.

I am probably going to shed a little tear when it goes but, knowing me, Ill be obsessing over the next ZARA special next week!

Happy wintering!

Winter Blues

Happy (belated) Christmas to you all and a merry winter! I hope Santa spoiled you with gifts and love galore. You may have noticed I have been slightly absent over the December period so my blog is looking a little bare. Truth be told, December has been a bit of a rough month for me, beginning with me having my wisdom teeth removed and ending with a short but strong bout (check) of gastritis. In between being sick as a dog, I began a part-time job and crammed in seeing as many family members and friends as I could in the run-up to Christmas (this included a lot of travelling across the UK) so I really didn’t have any time to sit down at my laptop and write anything. Honestly, I have really missed writing and blogging but sometimes its does the mind and body good to take a little break. It might be a bit of a taboo subject but I always like to be honest, in reality, it can be quite difficult to maintain my blog when it doesn’t provide me with any income. In an ideal world I would be making some kind of profit for all the work I put in, which by the way is quite a lot, but as I don’t, it leaves little time to focus on blogging and more time spent in the money-making world.

Anyway, rant over, hopefully this year I will be able to create a decent balance between the two!

I am loving this navy blue winter coat from New Look right now. There is something about a long-length, straight-cut coat that makes a woman feel powerful, as if you’re about to head to your office in downtown Manhattan (is it just me, or do you feel the same?). I had my eye on it for some time but resisted he urge to buy it as I just knew that New Look would stick it on their winter sale racks in good time, and that they did!

Perfect for this winter weather (it is literally FREEZING here in London at the moment) and chic enough to go with anything, I think this will be in my wardrobe for a few years to come.

Faux Fur Love

Its official, I am in love with my faux fur coat!

Well, winter has definitely been thrust upon us in London which means freezing cold hands, feet, face, ears…basically just everything for me.

 Oh joy.

However, not all is lost and I am in fact, a little partial to a cold winters day/night so long as its not accompanied by torrential downpours and blistering winds, which of course never happens in England…

Possibly the only good thing about winter (besides having a valid excuse to spend evenings in doors, with your heating turned up to full blast and shoving your face with an unholy amount of junk food to add to your `protective winter layer *ahem*) is that you call pull out all of your favourite winter clothes. For me, thats everything and anything that has enough thermal layering to keep a full-grown hippopotamus snug. Because I get soooooo cold. Thats where this ASOS faux fur coat comes out to play! Not only is it unbelievably warm but its super `this season` too. Yassss ladies, faux fur is in and freezing cold nips are…err…out.

But seriously, I love it so much! My jeans are from River Island by the way- one of THE ONLY places I will ever buy my jeans from. I find it so hard to find jeans that actually fit properly and are simultaneously flattering as I have such odd-shaped legs! But River Island (and on occasion, Toyshop) never seem to fail. Despite being `skinny jeans` they’re actually incredibly stretchy so I can still wear them AND maintain full circulation in my legs. Double points!!

Happy wintering y’all!

Don’t worry, be happy!

Okay, so I’m finally back from my almost month-long adventure in the beautiful island of Bali and I have a gazillion photos to upload, blog posts to write and stories to share! (not to mention a load of assignments to catch up on for work!)

But before I do anything else, I HAVE to share with you my favourite purchase from my travels: this bikini!!!

I know you are probably wondering why the hell I’m getting super excited about a bikini but I cannot tell you the endless struggles I have faced trying to track down a bikini that is both comfortable and stylish (and not to mention accommodating for those who are not so well-endowed in the breast department!).

I spotted this bikini at one of Bali’s many markets and was able to haggle it down to the bargain price of 100,000 rupees (roughly £5). Despite people insisting it was expensive due to it being low season for tourism (and thus prices are raised) I was more than happy to pay double if I had to! I’m a big Damian Marley fan and slipping on this bikini makes me feel like I’m sunning it up on a beach in Jamaica, blasting out my favourite Marley tunes and sipping on some fresh coconut (coincidently, this is exactly what I was doing in Bali).

The material is handmade crochet so it has a habit loosening up a little in the water and you may have to adjust it a few times if you’re planning on going for a dip in the ocean. However, like I said it’s super comfortable and a great style so I think thats a small price to pay!

If you haven’t been to Bali before, I cannot recommend visiting enough, it is literally paradise on earth!!

Barbie Girl

Im a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world……

Im a Barbie girl, in a barbie world……

Warning, this post consists of some seriously posy photos! As you can tell, I still haven’t managed to perfect the whole modelling thing…

This jacket entered my life about a month ago and I might as well just glue it to myself because I have worn it practically every day since! I initially saw it doing the rounds on various blogs and instantly wanted to buy it until it turned out that it was no longer available anywhere in the UK! If you haven’t seen it already (and if you’re a fellow fashion-lover, I`d be very surprised if you haven’t!) it`s from one of my favourite high street brands, Zara.

I am partial to a bit of pink, in case you hadn’t noticed and I am even more partial to a leather jacket (faux or no faux), so this little number hit all the right buttons! After doing a bit of research (yes I am sad enough that I actually spend hours online hunting down clothing!) I managed to find it in Pisa, Italy. Now, it was available in various other European stores but it just so happened that I had a holiday booked to Pisa very soon and so, within 2 hours of jumping off the plane, I had picked this bad boy up!!

It might sound crazy to some of you to land in another country and head straight to shopping but when you know you love a jacket, you gotttstta get the jacket!

Not only is it super comfy and detailed, quite frankly it looks ridiculously hot!

If you have just decided that you too, need this jacket in your life then fear not! Just take a look at Zara`s many european stores and order directly from there, you will have to pay a little extra for international shipping but its worth it!

Hola Señorita

You know when you find that one item of clothing that just seems to go with everything and suddenly you can’t imagine life without it? Well, that’s what happened to me when I found this top.

It may not look like much on the hanger, but put it on and I feel like I’ve just walked out of a vogue magazine shoot full of hip looking Spanish dancers (well, something like that).

Whether I lose or gain weight, I always seem to maintain quite a prominent collar bone (a feature I’ve always found to be quite feminine) and this top compliments it just perfectly. I bought it for the bargain price of £3 at one of the numerous clothing markets in Gili Trawangan and pretty much wore it to death for the remainder of my holiday. Despite the frills, the material is actually very light and airy and there is an elasticated band just under the boob area to allow for a bit of stretch. I saw various other versions of the same top in different colours dotted about all over Bali so if you are visiting soon then it shouldn’t be hard to pick yourself up a similar design!

Primark are also stocking some really great off-the-shoulder tops this summer for an absolute steal, so it’s always worth checking them out if you’re searching for that perfect girly, summer look on a budget!

Cream colored coat obsession

Hello from London, where it is currently a freezing 3 degrees and my fingers are so cold that typing this has started to feel like an olympic sport.

As you are probably aware by now, I have a little bit of an obsession with Coats and Jackets or anything that looks like it could be worn as a coat or jacket..

I picked up this gorgeous creamy beige Coat in the Zara January sales at an absolute bargain price of £29.99 and I’m kind of still high-fiving myself for it now. Not only is it a classic piece but when I slip it on, I feel like I’m being hugged by a big wooly bear (not the Revenant kind, the snug kind).

Zara have an amazing sale on right now, like, literally, AMAZING so I would highly recommend you take a look if you fancy nabbing yourself some winter bargains.

I promise once it starts getting warmer, I’ll start blogging about something other than coats and jackets!!
